When stagnant energy builds in your home
A real story from the Bay Area

I remember pulling up to the address, looking for parking, and already feeling it. Something heavy. Something that had been sitting for a long time.
Before I even knocked on the door, I could feel the weight of the space. Not just full. Stuck. The kind of feeling that comes when stagnant energy builds in your home and has nowhere left to move.
When the door opened, I understood immediately. There was stuff everywhere. My client began telling me about the pandemic: how hard it had gotten, how much she had struggled to move, to function, to keep up. She didn’t have to explain much. I was already feeling it in her and in the house before the words came.
She’d had an organizer before me. Systems had been put in place. But the pandemic had swallowed all of it, and for someone already prone to holding on, those years of isolation and stress had compounded everything. We weren’t starting from zero. We were starting from behind it.
We worked together over the next couple of months. Slowly. Intentionally.
As we cleared things out, I could feel her getting lighter. The house was getting lighter too.
But it was deep work, because the space had never truly been energetically cleansed.
When the energy of a home becomes stagnant
Here’s what stopped me in my tracks. There were crystals throughout the home. Everywhere. This wasn’t someone unfamiliar with energy work. She believed in it. But every single one of those crystals was completely depleted.
I had written before about how clutter can create energetically “tired” crystals. This was the first time I had seen it so clearly in a home. They had been quietly absorbing the weight of that space for years without being cleansed or recharged. They had given everything they had.
I have never seen that before or since.
It told me everything about what that house had been holding. And for how long.
We never got to finish. Life intervened, as it sometimes does. But the work that happened in those months was real, and it confirmed everything I believe about why this approach matters. The energy shifted. She shifted. And that doesn’t go away just because the sessions ended.
By the time we paused, something had genuinely shifted. Not just in the rooms. In her. The work wasn’t just about the clutter. It never really is. The clutter was the symptom. Underneath it was grief, stress, stagnation, and years of energy that had never been given anywhere to go. Homes hold energy, and when that energy becomes stagnant, it shows up in the physical space.
That’s what I do.
I work with what a space is actually holding, not just what is sitting on the surface.
When the energy of a home shifts, the physical changes finally have somewhere to land. And they last.
